Barcelona-El Prat Airport: Car hire on arrival for Catalonia, Andorra, and France

Meet at arrivals

El Prat has two terminals, T1 and T2. In addition to your flight number and time, let us know which terminal you're arriving at: we'll meet in the arrivals hall of that terminal or at a jointly agreed upon location. If your flight time changes, let us know and we'll update the appointment.

For private passengers, the delivery location depends on the ground handling provider you choose: send us their contact information and we'll arrange it with them.

Exit the airport south or north

The airport is located southwest of the city, near the sea. If you're heading to Sitges, you're already in the right direction: in about half an hour, you'll reach the seafront, with the beaches right in the center and the church on the promontory overlooking the sea. Further south, Salou and the Costa Daurada are just over an hour away.

For destinations north of Barcelona , use the ring roads that bypass the city center; on weekdays, at the beginning and end of the working day, traffic is heavy. Barcelona has a low-emission zone: please let us know where you'll be driving when booking.

Montserrat and Girona

Montserrat is about an hour away: the road winds up to the monastery, past rounded rocks, but you can also leave your car at the bottom and ascend by cogwheel railway or cable car. Early in the morning, the road and the square in front of the monastery are less crowded.

Girona is about an hour and a quarter away by highway. Its medieval center, with the cathedral steps and the colorful houses along the Onyar River, can be explored on foot, and from the walls, most of which are walkable, you can see the entire city.

Costa Brava

East of Girona, the coastline becomes rocky and rugged. Begur, Calella de Palafrugell, and Llafranc, about an hour and 45 minutes from the airport, have pine-lined coves and fishermen's houses; the roads leading down to the sea are narrow, and in summer, parking lots fill up quickly. Just inland, Pals is a medieval stone village surrounded by rice fields.

On these routes, a compact sports car like the Audi RS3 or the Mercedes-AMG A45 S handles better than a large car. For a family vacation with luggage, the seven-seater Land Rover Defender 110 offers plenty of room for everyone.

Andorra and the Pyrenees

Andorra is about three hours away. The Principality is not in the European Union: there is a customs post at the border, so bring your passport and car documents and let us know when booking. In winter, resorts like Grandvalira are very busy.

Cerdanya, with its wide valleys, is about two hours away; Baqueira-Beret, in the Val d'Aran, is about four. During the cold months, our cars always have winter tires, and for the whole family's skis and luggage, an SUV like the Audi Q8 is the most practical choice.

France and return

The French border is about an hour and 45 minutes away; just beyond is Collioure, on the Roussillon coast, and Marseille is about five hours away. Carcassonne, with its fortified city, is about three hours away. You can leave your car in France and continue your journey from there, or end your rental in Spain, in Valencia or Madrid.

If you're departing from El Prat Airport, let us know which terminal your flight departs from and we'll schedule a drop-off time. If you're spending your last night in the city, we can also pick up your car from your hotel.
