During high season, Palma is among the busiest airports in the country. Even the ring road around the city, the Vía de Cintura, fills up at peak times: if you have an appointment or lunch planned, allow a little extra. Cars, villas, and transfers are in high demand in July and August: it's best to book in advance.

The airport is east of Palma, near the sea. Santa Ponsa and Port d'Andratx, to the southwest, are about 30-40 minutes away; Sóller, beyond the mountains, can be reached in about 40 minutes via the tunnel.
Pollença and Alcúdia, in the north, are about 50 minutes away by highway. On the east coast, Porto Cristo and the Drach Caves, with their underground lake, are about an hour away, while Es Trenc, a long natural beach surrounded by dunes, is about 45 minutes to the south.
Many inland fincas are reached via country roads, sometimes dirt roads: an SUV like the Land Rover Defender 110 or the Mercedes-AMG G63 is better than a low-slung car. If you're traveling with children and a lot of luggage, the 7-seater Defender 110 saves you the hassle of using two cars.
Parking is scarce in Palma and the coastal towns: a city car like the Abarth 595 Turismo Cabrio or the Mini GP3 can fit even in tight spaces. On the inland roads, among almond groves and small stone villages, an open-top car like the Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder is a great alternative.
