Why rent a luxury car in Hamburg?

Hamburg is Europe's gateway to the North Sea, with its historic port, the UNESCO-listed Speicherstadt, and the vibrant nightlife of St. Pauli. Exploring the city by luxury car allows you to effortlessly travel from elegant neighborhoods to the banks of the Elbe. Milan Luxury Cars delivers and collects your car directly in Hamburg, at your hotel, or at the airport—wherever you prefer in Europe.

Where we deliver the car to you

In Hamburg, we can deliver your car to the airport, the main train station (Hauptbahnhof), your hotel, or to a business meeting. If you're arriving by plane, please let us know your flight number and landing time. We'll deliver your car to the arrivals hall or an agreed-upon location.

Many high-end hotels overlook the Alster or are located in the streets between the town hall and the Jungfernstieg. The exhibition center is next to Planten un Blomen park: if you're attending a conference, your car can be waiting for you right there.

The Alster and its two lakes

In the center of Hamburg, the Alster River forms two lakes. The Binnenalster, the smaller one, is surrounded by historic hotels, shops, and the Jungfernstieg, the waterfront promenade. The much larger Außenalster is a wide basin with sailboats, piers, and lawns along the banks.

On the shores of the outer lake are elegant neighborhoods like Harvestehude and Uhlenhorst, with their white villas. A drive around the lake is short and pleasant at sunset; those who prefer walking can find a path along the entire shore.

Elbphilharmonie, HafenCity and Speicherstadt

The Elbphilharmonie, the concert hall built on a former port warehouse, is the city's modern symbol. Even without attending a concert, you can climb to the Plaza, the panoramic terrace that wraps around the building, overlooking the harbor and rooftops. For concerts, book well in advance.

Around it lies HafenCity, the neighborhood built on the old docks, with contemporary architecture, waterfront promenades, and restaurants. In nearby Speicherstadt, the Miniatur Wunderland, a large model railway, is a favorite with both adults and children.

For an evening concert, it's best to leave your car at the hotel and reach the Elbphilharmonie on foot, by taxi, or by public transport.

Along the Elbe to Blankenese

From Altona, the Elbchaussee runs westward parallel to the river, past parks and villas once built by merchants and shipowners. It's a road best explored at a leisurely pace, perhaps in a Porsche 911 (992) 4S Cabriolet on a sunny day.

At the end, you reach Blankenese, an ancient village of fishermen and captains on the hillside that slopes down to the Elbe. The stairway district, with narrow streets and stairways between the houses, is best explored on foot: leave your car in the upper part and walk down to the riverside beach, where large ships pass on their way to the port.

Lübeck and the Baltic Sea

Lübeck, about an hour's drive northeast by highway, was the leading city of the Hanseatic League. Its historic center, on an island surrounded by water, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You enter through the Holstentor, the city's iconic brick gate, and continue past Gothic churches and merchants' houses. The local specialty is marzipan.

In about twenty minutes from Lübeck, you can reach Travemünde, on the Baltic Sea, with its promenade and ferry port. Along the bay are a succession of seaside resorts like Timmendorfer Strand, with its characteristic wicker beach chairs called Strandkorb. For a day at the beach with bags and towels, a luxury SUV like the Range Rover Sport is more practical than a coupe.

Sylt: by car to Niebüll, then by train

Sylt, Germany's northernmost island, is known for its dunes, long North Sea beaches, and elegant villages like Kampen and Keitum, with their thatched-roof houses. The eastern side of the island overlooks the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where wide stretches of sand emerge at low tide.

The island is not connected to the mainland by road. From Hamburg, it's about a two-hour drive to Niebüll; from there, the car takes a shuttle train along the dike to Westerland. Check train schedules before leaving, especially on summer weekends. On the island, an SUV like the Land Rover Defender 110 offers space for luggage and beach gear.

Which car to choose, drive and return

For business meetings in the city, the BMW X7 40d or the Audi Q8 offer comfort, silence, and space for colleagues. In the North, the weather changes frequently and wind is common even in summer: for open-top driving, for example in the Ferrari Roma Spider, choose the warmer months.

On the highways to Lübeck or Berlin, some sections have no general speed limit, but speed limits and roadworks are frequent. Some German cities have low-emission zones, so please let us know when booking where you plan to drive. In winter, our vehicles are always equipped with winter tires.

The journey doesn't have to end in Hamburg: you can leave your car in Berlin , Hanover , about an hour and a half south, or in another European country. General driving rules are summarized on the Germany page.
