Hannover: trade fairs, art cities, and the Harz Mountains

Where we deliver the car to you

Hanover is located at the intersection of two major highways: the A2, which connects the Ruhr to Berlin, and the A7, which crosses Germany from north to south via Hamburg. We can deliver your car to the airport, north of the city, the main train station, your hotel, your office, or the exhibition center.

For air travel, all you need is your flight number and landing time: the car will be waiting for you at the arrivals hall or at a location we can arrange together.

Big fairs and business trips

The Hannover Exhibition Center, located southeast of the city, is among the largest in the world. The Hannover Messe, dedicated to industry, is held every spring, and other international events alternate throughout the year. During the trade fair weeks, hotels are full, and many visitors stay outside the city.

The airport is to the north, the exhibition center to the south: on opening days, the journey may take longer than usual. If you're traveling with a delegation, book the Mercedes-Benz V-Class van : it offers space for a group or a family with lots of luggage and can carry everyone together. For traveling independently between pavilions, hotels, and dinners with clients, the BMW X5 30d or Maserati Grecale are comfortable choices. If you're staying outside the city, for example in Celle or Hildesheim, we'll deliver the car there.

The city beyond the gardens

The New Town Hall, a monumental early 20th-century building overlooking a park, has an elevator that ascends diagonally, following the curve of the dome, to a panoramic terrace. Just to the south lies the Maschsee, an artificial lake where in summer people go boating and stroll along the shore.

Next to the lake, the Sprengel Museum houses modern and contemporary art, with works by Hanover-born Kurt Schwitters and Niki de Saint Phalle. The artist's large, colorful sculptures, called Nanas, can also be seen along the Leine River. To find your way around the city center, follow the Red Thread, a line painted on the sidewalk that connects the main monuments.

Wolfsburg and the Autostadt

Wolfsburg, home to Volkswagen, is about an hour's drive east on the highway. Next to the factory is the Autostadt, an automotive theme park with pavilions representing the group's brands, glass towers where new cars await customers, and the ZeitHaus, a museum featuring vehicles from many manufacturers and eras.

For a day dedicated to motoring, you can arrive in a Porsche 911 (992) S Coupé; with the family, one of our luxury SUVs is more comfortable , for example the Audi Q7 or the BMW X7 40d.

Celle, Hildesheim, Hameln and the Heath

Celle, about forty minutes northeast, has a historic center with hundreds of half-timbered houses and a ducal castle. From here, continue towards Lüneburg Heath, where heather blooms between August and September and the landscape turns purple.

Hildesheim, about half an hour to the southeast, boasts the Cathedral and St. Michael's Church, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Hameln, the city of the Pied Piper, is less than an hour to the southwest, on the Weser River, with Renaissance-style buildings. These quiet roads are perfect for a convertible like the Porsche 718 Boxster in the warmer months.

Goslar and the Harz Mountains

Goslar, about an hour southeast, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the old mines of Rammelsberg. The town center features half-timbered houses, the Imperial Palace (Kaiserpfalz), and a much-photographed market square. From here begins the Harz, a range of wooded mountains dotted with lakes, dams, and small resort towns.

The Brocken, the highest peak in northern Germany, can be reached by a narrow-gauge steam train departing, among other stations, from Wernigerode, a town with a hilltop castle. Quedlinburg, on the eastern edge of the Harz Mountains, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In winter, the mountain roads can be snow-covered: in the cold season, our cars always have winter tires, and for the hills, an SUV like the Range Rover is a comfortable choice.

Car return and trips to other cities

Hamburg is about an hour and a half north, and Berlin is about three hours east. You can leave your car in one of these cities or in another European country. The A2 and A7 motorways alternate between stretches with no general speed limit, stretches with posted speed limits, and frequent roadworks, with heavy truck traffic. Drive calmly. If you plan to enter other cities, remember that some have low-emission zones and let us know when booking. For rules and advice valid throughout the country, read the Germany page.
