Ibiza is small: driving from one end to the other generally takes less than an hour, and almost every beach is a short drive from your accommodation. With a car always available, you can swim in a cove in the west, have lunch in the north, and return to town for dinner all in the same day.
The main roads are in good condition. As soon as you leave them, you'll find yourself in a network of country lanes, sometimes dirt, leading to villas, farmhouses, and secluded beaches.
We deliver to your villa, hotel, airport, or port. Ibiza Airport is close to the city, about a quarter of an hour away: we can have the car waiting for you at arrivals, ready for you to drive to your accommodation.
If you arrive by yacht, we'll deliver your car to Marina Ibiza or Marina Botafoch, the marinas opposite the old town. Many villas are in the countryside, and sat navs can't always find them: send us the exact location or the owner's directions.
Dalt Vila, the walled upper town, can be explored on foot, climbing its sloping streets to the cathedral and the bastions, which offer views of the entire port. It's best to get there by taxi or leave your car in the lower part of the city.
At the foot of the walls, the Marina district and the streets near the port come alive in the evening with shops and restaurants open until late.
Sant Antoni, on the west coast, is known for its sunsets over the sea: many arrive in the late afternoon and stay until evening, so the parking lots near the seafront fill up quickly.
Santa Eulària des Riu, on the east coast, has a more leisurely pace, a promenade for strolling, and a marina. It's a convenient base for families.
The north is the greenest and quietest part of the island. Around Sant Joan de Labritja and Portinatx, you'll find pine-covered hills, small villages, and sparsely built coves, far from the crowds.
Cala Comte boasts clear water and an open view of the nearby islets, making it one of the most popular sunset spots. Cala d'Hort, to the southwest, looks straight at Es Vedrà, the rocky islet rising from the sea off the coast.
In July and August, the roads to the most popular beaches and beach clubs are busy in the middle of the day, and parking is limited. Leave early in the morning, or ask the restaurant or beach club if they offer valet parking.
For villas and farmhouses accessible via dirt roads, we recommend an SUV : the Land Rover Defender 110, the Range Rover Sport, or the Mercedes-AMG G63 can handle potholes and dust with ease. A supercar, being lower, is less suitable for these types of access.
To get between cities and beaches, where space is tight, a city car like the Mini GP3 or the Smart Fortwo is easy to park.
For a group of friends, there's the Mercedes-Benz V-Class van , with space for a group or a family with lots of luggage. For evenings, decide in advance who will drive the way back, or use a taxi.
Formentera can be reached by ferry from the port of Ibiza. For a day trip, the easiest option is to leave your car at your hotel or villa, as parking near the port is limited in summer. Upon your return, you'll find it right where you left it.
Mallorca is connected to Ibiza by short flights and ferries, and another car can be waiting for you at Palma Airport. You can also combine the island with a few days in Barcelona , getting the most suitable car for each stop. Information on driving in the rest of the country is on the Spain page.
The season runs from May to October, peaking in July and August, when villas and hotels book up well in advance. In May, June, and September, the days are warm and the roads are clearer. In winter, the island is much quieter and many bars and restaurants close, but strolling around Dalt Vila and the north remains pleasant.
