Why rent a luxury car in Lugano?

Lugano is the pearl of Ticino, with its lake surrounded by mountains, a historic center with Mediterranean charm, and luxury boutiques lining the streets. It's the ideal destination for those seeking Swiss elegance with an Italian touch. Milan Luxury Cars delivers and collects your car directly in Lugano, at your hotel, or at the airport—wherever you prefer in Europe.

From Lugano, a scenic drive skirts Lake Ceresio to the villages of Gandria and Morcote, among the most picturesque in Switzerland. In less than an hour, you'll reach Lake Como , with its historic villas and world-famous views. Those seeking high altitude can continue to St. Moritz or Zurich , for an itinerary that combines the Mediterranean charm of Ticino with the majesty of the Swiss Alps.

Our fleet in Lugano includes vehicles like the Ferrari F8 Spider, the Audi RS3, and the Mercedes-AMG G63, ideal for both the scenic roads of Ticino and for a prestigious entrance to five-star hotels in the city center. Delivery and collection are also available at Lugano-Agno Airport or Milan Malpensa Airport, the closest international hub.

Luxury car rental in Lugano: what you need to know

Where we deliver the car to you

We'll deliver the car wherever you need it: to the entrance of your lakeside hotel, to a villa on the Castagnola hill, to an apartment in Paradiso, or to a private address nearby. Upon delivery, we'll check the condition of the car together and leave you with the documents.

End-of-rental collection can take place at a different location, even in another country. You can pick up the car in Lugano and return it in Milan, Zurich, or at the airport before your return flight.

How to get there and which airport to choose

For those arriving from outside Europe, the most convenient airport is often Milan Malpensa Airport , about an hour's drive from Lugano. We can deliver your car directly to the arrivals area, so you can hop in and cross the border without changing vehicles. Zurich is also an option, but the drive is longer: about two and a half hours via the Gotthard Pass.

Lugano is connected to Milan by the highway that passes through Como and Chiasso. Under normal conditions, the journey from central Milan takes just over an hour.

Switzerland: vignette and documents

Switzerland is not part of the European Union, so at the border, have your passport, driving licence and the car documents we will provide you with ready.

If you plan to use the Swiss highway, you'll need an annual electronic vignette. You can purchase it online by entering your vehicle's license plate before entering the highway. If you'd like to purchase it in advance, please ask us for the license plate of your assigned vehicle.

Driving and parking in Lugano

Lugano's city center is compact and largely pedestrianized, with narrow streets surrounding Piazza della Riforma and Via Nassa. It's best to leave your car in your hotel garage or in one of the city's covered parking lots and explore the lakeside on foot.

Which car to choose

On the roads that run along the lake or up towards the villages of Malcantone, a convertible comes into its own: a Porsche 911 (992) 4S Cabriolet, a Ferrari Roma Spider or a Ferrari F8 Spider from our range of supercars . Those travelling with family and luggage are better off in a luxury SUV like the Range Rover or the Mercedes-AMG G63.

For a group or for a transfer from Malpensa with a lot of luggage, there is the luxury Mercedes-Benz V-Class van, with space for a group or a family with lots of luggage.

Day trips from the lake

Morcote, on the southern shore of Lake Lugano, is about twenty minutes away: a village overlooking the water, with stairways and porticoes. Monte San Salvatore can be reached by funicular from Paradiso, and from the summit you can see much of the lake. Gandria, also reachable by boat, is a small village beneath Monte Brè.

Lake Como is nearby: Menaggio can be reached in about forty minutes via Porlezza, and Cernobbio in a similar amount of time via Chiasso. Locarno and Ascona on Lake Maggiore can be reached in about an hour. Those who want to venture into the mountains can reach Saint Moritz in about three hours, via Chiavenna and the Maloja Pass.

When to come

Lugano has a mild climate for Switzerland, with the most pleasant season running from April to October. In summer, the lakeside comes alive with boats connecting the towns along the shore; in autumn, the hills are quieter. In winter, our cars always come with winter tires, useful if you're driving up into the valleys or heading towards the Alps.
