Driving a luxury car in Madrid: what to know

Where we deliver the car to you

We deliver the car to your hotel along Paseo de la Castellana, in the Salamanca neighborhood, near El Retiro, or to a residence in the northern part of the city, such as La Moraleja. We'll meet you at the agreed-upon time and hand you the keys after a brief check.

If you're staying in a private home or residence with controlled access, please let us know in advance if you need directions for the concierge. Pickup can take place at another location, even in another Spanish city or country.

Madrid-Barajas Airport

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport has direct flights from many cities in the Americas and the Middle East and is about twenty to thirty minutes from the city center. We can deliver your car to the arrivals hall of your terminal, or to your hotel if you prefer to arrive by taxi and rest after your flight.

Driving in the city and parking

Madrid has wide avenues and ring roads, but traffic is heavy during rush hour. The historic center, around Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, has limited traffic and low-emission zones: it's best to drop off your car at your hotel and explore on foot or by taxi.

The city has many public underground parking lots, and higher-end hotels usually offer a garage or valet parking.

Museums, shopping and evenings

Along the Paseo del Prado are the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, and the Reina Sofía Museum, all just a few minutes' walk from each other. The Royal Palace and Plaza de Oriente are west of the historic center.

For shopping, the best place to go is Calle Serrano, in the Salamanca neighborhood, with its major fashion brands. The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is located on Paseo de la Castellana: for an evening match, it's best to take the subway or taxi, as traffic around the stadium is heavy.

Which car for Madrid

In the city, an SUV like the Mercedes-AMG G63 or the Range Rover offers comfort and a high driving position in traffic. On the mountain roads and highways to Toledo and Segovia, a supercar like the Ferrari F8 Tributo or the Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder makes the journey part of the vacation.

For families and groups traveling between historic cities, there is the Mercedes-Benz V-Class van, with space for a group or family with lots of luggage.

Day trips

Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage city on a bend of the Tagus River, is about an hour away. The center can be explored on foot, leaving the car in the parking lots at the foot of the walls. Segovia, with its Roman aqueduct and Alcázar, can be reached in about an hour via the Sierra de Guadarrama. The monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial is about fifty minutes away, and Ávila, with its walls, is about an hour and a quarter.

Aranjuez, with its royal palace and gardens, is about forty-five minutes south. In summer, the Sierra de Guadarrama offers cooler mountain roads than the city, ideal for a day in a convertible.

For those who enjoy driving, the Navacerrada Pass climbs into the sierra about an hour from Madrid, with curves, pine forests, and views of the plains. In winter, the area is covered in snow, so caution is advised, but our cars are equipped with winter tires.

Longer journeys

Madrid is at the heart of the Spanish highway network. Valencia is about three and a half hours away, Seville about five hours, and Barcelona about six. You can depart from Madrid and leave your car at your destination without having to turn back.

When to come

Spring and autumn are the best seasons, with pleasant temperatures and long days. July and August are hot, and many Madrileños leave the city; in winter, days are cool but often sunny, and our cars always have winter tires for the mountains.
