We'll deliver your car to your hotel on the Via Partenope waterfront, to a house in Posillipo, to an apartment in Chiaia, or to the port if you're arriving by boat. We'll arrange a meeting time and location together, so you don't have to search for a rental office.
You can return the car elsewhere: in the Sorrento Peninsula, in Rome, or in another town. Just indicate this in the request.
Naples Capodichino Airport is located within the city, about twenty minutes from the seafront when traffic is light. Those arriving by train get off at the central station in Piazza Garibaldi. If you start your trip in Rome , you can rent a car there and reach Naples in about two and a half hours on the highway.
Naples traffic is heavy, and the local driving style is assertive: scooters, one-way streets, and double parking are the norm. The historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has a limited traffic zone and is best explored on foot.
For this reason, we recommend having the car delivered directly to your hotel and using it mainly to get out of town. Several hotels along the seafront have a garage or valet parking: please inquire with the hotel in advance.
Posillipo Hill is the most residential side of Naples: Via Posillipo slopes down to the sea between villas and terraces, making it one of the most beautiful drives at sunset, with views of the gulf and Capri. Further along, the Coroglio area overlooks the island of Nisida and the Gulf of Pozzuoli.
Chiaia is the neighborhood of elegant shops and historic cafes. It's best to leave your car here and walk to the waterfront, overlooking Castel dell'Ovo and Mount Vesuvius.
On the narrow coastal roads, an agile car is an advantage: a Porsche 911 (992) 4S Cabriolet or a Porsche 718 Boxster maneuver well around the curves. Those traveling with children and luggage can choose an SUV such as the BMW X7 40d or the seven-seater Land Rover Defender 110.
For groups, weddings, or transfers to coastal villas, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class van is available . It has room for a group or family with lots of luggage; on the narrow coastal roads it should be driven calmly.
The Pompeii excavations are about a half-hour drive away by highway; Herculaneum is even closer. The Royal Palace of Caserta can be reached in about forty minutes to the north, while to the west, the Phlegraean Fields, with Pozzuoli and its Roman ruins, are about half an hour. Vesuvius is less than an hour away: the final stretch to the crater is on foot, and it's best to check access methods beforehand. To the south, the road continues to Sorrento , about an hour away, and then to Positano and the Amalfi Coast.
For Capri and Ischia, you depart by hydrofoil from the port of Naples: your car stays on dry land and you can collect it upon your return, or you can return it before boarding.
Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons: pleasant temperatures and less traffic towards the coast. July and August are hot and the roads to Sorrento are very busy, so it's best to leave early in the morning.
