Nice on foot and the inland villages

Promenade des Anglais and Vieux-Nice, on foot

To explore Nice, it's a good idea to leave your car at the hotel for at least a day. The Promenade des Anglais follows the Baie des Anges for several kilometers, with its bike path and blue chairs facing the sea. At its eastern end, Vieux-Nice, the old town, begins, with narrow alleys, ochre-colored facades, and small squares.

In the Cours Saleya, you'll find flower and local produce stalls in the morning; on Mondays, they give way to antiques. Here, you can try socca, a thin chickpea flour crepe typical of the city.

Castle Hill and Cimiez

Between Vieux-Nice and the port lies Castle Hill, a public park with a waterfall and panoramic terraces overlooking the bay and red rooftops. You can reach it on foot via the stairs or by taking an elevator that departs near the sea.

On the hills north of the city center, in the residential neighborhood of Cimiez, the Matisse Museum occupies a Genoese villa surrounded by olive trees, next to the remains of a Roman amphitheater. The artist is buried in the cemetery of the nearby monastery.

Èze and the Moyenne Corniche

The village of Èze sits on a cliff about 400 meters above the sea and can be reached from Nice along the Moyenne Corniche in about half an hour. At the top of the village, a succulent garden offers a sweeping view of the entire coast. If you enjoy walking, you can walk down to the sea along the Nietzsche Trail, named after the philosopher, and be picked up in Èze-sur-Mer.

With a discovery, like those offered for Ferrari rental at Nice Airport , you can continue on to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat or all the way to Menton , near the Italian border.

Vence and Saint-Paul-de-Vence

After the Matisse Museum, you can complete your tour in Vence, about 30-40 minutes from Nice, where the artist designed the Chapelle du Rosaire, from the stained glass windows to the decorations: check the opening hours before leaving. Not far away is Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the fortified village beloved by 20th-century painters and writers.

For a family with grandparents and children, the 7-seater Defender 110 can carry everyone together; for a couple, the Mercedes-AMG G63 is comfortable.

Luxury car rental in Nice: the French Riviera and the Southern Alps

Where we deliver the car to you

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is France's second-largest airport and is located 4 miles (7 km) from the city center. It's the most popular delivery point along the entire coast, along with hotels on the Promenade des Anglais and the port. We also deliver to private addresses, villas, and marinas, as well as to your destination if you prefer to reach it by other means.

The entire French Riviera in less than two hours

From Nice, Monte Carlo is half an hour away, Cannes half an hour, Antibes twenty minutes, Saint-Tropez an hour and a half, and Sanremo and the Ligurian Riviera fifty minutes. Above the city, the three Corniches towards Èze and Saint-Paul-de-Vence are among the most beautiful roads in Europe and can be driven in half a day.

What almost no one knows: Nice in winter

The French Riviera is famous for its summer, but Nice is also the gateway to the Alpes-Maritimes : Isola 2000 is an hour and a half away, Auron an hour and three-quarters, and Valberg two hours away. It's the only place in Europe where you can ski in the morning and have lunch by the sea, and for many customers, that's the reason to rent here, even in January.

Be aware of a French rule that surprises almost everyone: from November 1st to March 31st , in many mountain towns, it's mandatory to have winter tires or snow chains on board. The vehicles we use for these itineraries are equipped accordingly.

The Crit'Air sticker

Several French cities restrict access to the most polluting vehicles using the Crit'Air environmental sticker . If your itinerary includes multiple French cities, please let us know when you book.

Which car and when

In summer, on the coast, a supercar or convertible is the very reason for the trip. For families, villas, and airport transfers with luggage, a luxury SUV is the perfect choice. For groups and crews, a luxury van is the perfect choice . In winter, if your itinerary includes ski resorts, a four-wheel drive and winter suspension are the perfect choice.

The busiest weeks are the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix in May, July, and August , and the period between Christmas and New Year's. For those dates, it's best to book well in advance.

If you come from abroad

Driver's license, ID or passport, and credit card in the driver's name; requirements for non-EU customers are in the guide to documents, deposit, and insurance . If the itinerary enters Monaco or Italy, please indicate this: authorizations vary.
