Why rent a luxury car in Pisa?

Pisa is known worldwide for its Leaning Tower in Piazza dei Miracoli, but the city and its surrounding area have much more to offer those traveling by luxury car. The medieval historic center, the Arno River that flows through it, and one of Europe's oldest universities convey an elegant city often rushed by tourists heading elsewhere. If you arrive by plane, you can pick up your luxury car directly at the airport.Pisa Airport, without waiting.

Pisa, Gateway to Tuscany: A Practical Guide to Luxury Car Rentals

An airport just a few minutes from the Lungarni

Pisa Airport is located just a few kilometers from the city center: it's just a few minutes' drive to the Arno River, and a rail shuttle, the Pisa Mover, connects the airport to the central station. Tell us your flight number and arrival time: we'll bring your car to the arrivals hall or to a location to be determined together.

We also deliver to Pisa Centrale train station, city hotels, and villas in the Monti Pisani hills. If you're arriving by boat in Livorno, about 25 minutes away, we can meet you at the port.

The historic center and the Tower

The historic center is traffic-restricted. If you're staying on the banks of the Arno or near Piazza dei Miracoli, we'll bring your car to the hotel entrance and you can explore the city on foot: from the Tower to the Arno River, it's just a fifteen-minute walk. Tickets to climb the Tower have a timed entry period; in summer, it's best to purchase them in advance.

Among the less crowded places are Piazza dei Cavalieri, home to the Scuola Normale Superiore, Borgo Stretto with its arcades and the small Gothic church of Santa Maria della Spina, overlooking the river.

June festivals and seasons

On the evening of June 16th, for the Luminara di San Ranieri, the buildings along the Arno riverside are illuminated by thousands of tiny candles. The following day, the Palio di San Ranieri, a regatta on the Arno, takes place. During those days, the riversides and squares fill with people: arrange delivery and collection far from the river, a few days in advance.

Spring and autumn are the most pleasant times to tour Tuscany by car. In summer, the coast and Versilia are very popular on weekends: for seaside trips, it's best to leave early in the morning.

The Pisan Mountains and the Certosa di Calci

Behind the city, the Pisan Mountains separate Pisa from Lucca. At their foot, about 20 minutes away, the Certosa di Calci is a large monastery with cloisters and frescoes, also home to the University of Pisa's Natural History Museum.

Lucca and Torre del Lago

Lucca is about half an hour away: besides the city walls, it's worth climbing the Guinigi Tower, with its holm oaks planted at the top. It's also the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini, whose house in the historic center is open to visitors.

On the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli, about 25 minutes from Pisa, Torre del Lago preserves the villa where Puccini lived and hosts a festival dedicated to his operas every summer, in an open-air theatre overlooking the water.

The coast: San Rossore, Livorno and Castiglioncello

Between the city and the sea lies the San Rossore estate, part of a regional park of pine forests and dunes. To the south, Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia have beach resorts about 20 minutes from the city center, and Livorno offers the Terrazza Mascagni seaside promenade.

Beyond Livorno, the coastal road runs between cliffs and pine forests to Castiglioncello, a resort town with historic villas and small bays, about 40 minutes from Pisa. Those wishing to venture as far as Bolgheri and its cypress-lined avenue can get there in about an hour.

San Gimignano, Volterra, and the cities of art

Heading inland, the hills southeast of Pisa lead to Volterra, enclosed by Etruscan and medieval walls, in about an hour and a quarter. San Gimignano, with its towers, is about 40 minutes from Volterra: combining the two cities in one day is a classic.

Florence can be reached in about an hour, Siena in about an hour and a half. To the north, in about forty minutes you reach Versilia, at Forte dei Marmi ; La Spezia, the starting point for the Cinque Terre , is about an hour away.

Which car to choose

For the coastal road towards Castiglioncello and Bolgheri, a discovery like the Ferrari F8 Spider or the Ferrari Roma Spider, among our supercars , is a perfect accompaniment to a day at the beach. Towards Volterra, the roads wind uphill, and some farmhouses are reached on dirt roads: there, an SUV like the Range Rover Sport or Audi Q7 is more practical.

If you're arriving in Livorno with your family or a group, we can deliver your Mercedes-Benz V-Class to the port: a single vehicle will take you to the Tower and the cities of art, and return to the port in time for your departure.
