Why rent a luxury car in Siena?

Siena is one of Italy's best-preserved medieval cities, with Piazza del Campo, the site of the famous Palio horse race, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the entire historic center. But it's the surrounding area that makes Siena an ideal destination for luxury car rentals: the hills of Chianti, Val d'Orcia, and the Crete Senesi, among cypress trees, vineyards, and villages like Montalcino and Montepulciano, offer some of the most photographed scenic drives in the world.

The dirt roads that crisscross the Chianti and Val d'Orcia, lined with cypress trees and stone farmhouses, are among the most beloved routes among driving enthusiasts in Italy, ideal for exploring in a convertible or supercar. From Siena, you can also easily reach Florence , the birthplace of the Renaissance, and Pisa , with its famous Leaning Tower, for an itinerary that combines art, history, and landscape in a unique travel experience.

Our Siena fleet includes vehicles like the Ferrari F8 Spider, the Audi RS3, and the Mercedes-AMG G63, perfect for both the scenic Tuscan roads and a grand arrival in the Chianti villages. Delivery and pickup are available throughout Tuscany, with the option of pickup in Florence or Pisa for those arriving by plane.

Siena in a Luxury Car: Rental Tips

Where we deliver the car to you

Siena is surrounded by hills dotted with villas, luxury farmhouses, and relais nestled in ancient villages. We deliver your car to your hotel just outside the city walls, to your Chianti or Val d'Orcia estate, or to the airport if you prefer to leave immediately.

At the end of your trip you can leave it in another place, for example in Florence , Rome or at the airport you are leaving from.

How to get to Siena

Siena does not have an airport with scheduled flights. The most convenient airports are Florence Airport , about an hour away, and Pisa Airport , about an hour and a half away. From Rome, it takes about three hours. The Florence-Siena highway leads to the outskirts of the city.

The historic center and parking

Siena's city center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is traffic-limited and largely pedestrianized. Piazza del Campo, the Duomo, and the city's contrade (districts) can be explored on foot. Cars can be left in the parking lots along the city walls or in the hotel garage.

If you're staying within the city walls, ask your hotel how they handle access and parking: in many cases, we recommend having the car delivered just outside the city center.

Chianti and Val d'Orcia

The Chiantigiana road connects Siena to Florence through Castellina in Chianti and Greve in Chianti, passing through vineyards and wineries. Radda and Gaiole are also nearby. It's a route best undertaken slowly, stopping for tastings; remember that drivers must remain sober.

Heading south, in about an hour, you enter the Val d'Orcia, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Pienza, Montalcino, San Quirico d'Orcia, and Bagno Vignoni are all close by, and Montepulciano is just a short drive away. San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, with their medieval walls and towers, are other destinations easily reached from Siena.

Between Siena and the Val d'Orcia, the road passes through the Crete Senesi, nearly treeless clay hills, via either Asciano or Buonconvento. It's one of the most photographed landscapes in Tuscany, especially at sunrise and sunset. Brunello is produced in Montalcino, and Vino Nobile in Montepulciano; many wineries welcome visitors by reservation.

Which car for the Tuscan countryside?

The roads through the hills are made of gentle curves and ups and downs: the ideal terrain for a convertible like the Ferrari Roma Spider or the Porsche 911 (992) 4S Cabriolet, which you can find among our supercars . Many estates, however, are reached on dirt roads, which are not suitable for a very low car.

If your agriturismo is at the end of a dirt road, an SUV like the Land Rover Defender 110 or Porsche Cayenne S Coupé is more comfortable. For groups of friends visiting the wineries, there's the Mercedes-Benz V-Class van: decide in advance who will drive and who will forgo the tasting.

The Palio and the season

The Palio is run twice a year in Piazza del Campo, on July 2nd and August 16th. On race days, the city is packed, and traffic around the center is complicated: if you're coming for the Palio, arrange for the car to be delivered to your hotel and get around on foot.

Besides the Palio, Siena is very popular on spring weekends and during the summer holidays: book your hotel and car delivery in advance. Spring and autumn are the best seasons for driving in the countryside. September and October are the grape harvest season, while summer has long but hot days.
