Seville by Luxury Car: Historic Center, Tours, and Seasons

Where to pick up your car in Seville

Seville's historic center has limited traffic and is made up of narrow streets, especially around the cathedral and the Santa Cruz neighborhood. Therefore, we will deliver the car to your hotel, or to the address of the house or building where you are staying, at the time you specify.

If you're arriving by plane, we can meet you at Seville Airport's arrivals hall, about twenty minutes from the city center. Please let us know your flight number and landing time. Some Spanish cities have low-emission zones. Please let us know which zones you plan to drive in when making your request.

Cathedral, Giralda and Alcázar

The main monuments are close together and can be visited on foot. The cathedral is one of the largest Gothic churches in the world and houses the funerary monument of Christopher Columbus. The Giralda, its bell tower, was the minaret of the mosque that once stood here: the top is reached via a series of ramps, not stairs.

Opposite is the Real Alcázar, the royal palace with rooms decorated with stucco and azulejos and large gardens. For the Alcázar and the cathedral, it's best to buy tickets online a few days in advance, especially in spring. Immediately adjacent is the Santa Cruz neighborhood, the old Jewish quarter, with shady squares and flower-filled courtyards.

Plaza de España and Triana

The Plaza de España, built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, encloses María Luisa Park in a large semicircle. Along the portico, ceramic benches represent the Spanish provinces.

On the other bank of the Guadalquivir lies Triana, the ceramics and flamenco district. Across the Isabel II Bridge, you'll find the covered market, tile shops, and, along Calle Betis, restaurants overlooking the river and the Torre del Oro.

Cordoba and the Mosque

Córdoba is about an hour and a half east by highway. The Mezquita, the great mosque with its forest of red and white arches, houses a Christian cathedral. The Judería, the Jewish Quarter, stretches around it, with whitewashed alleys descending to the Roman bridge over the Guadalquivir River.

Even the center of Córdoba has limited traffic: leave your car in a parking lot outside the historic streets and continue on foot.

Jerez, the bodegas and Cadiz

Jerez de la Frontera is about an hour south. It's the city of sherry: many historic bodegas offer tours and tastings, which must be booked in advance. Jerez is also home to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, with its Andalusian horse shows.

Cadiz, about an hour and a half from Seville and about half an hour from Jerez, is one of Western Europe's oldest cities, built on a narrow peninsula and almost surrounded by the sea. The historic center has narrow streets: park at the entrance to the old town and explore on foot, all the way to La Caleta beach.

Which car for Seville and excursions

For the motorways towards Córdoba and Cádiz, a closed sports car like the Porsche 911 (992) S Coupé or the Ferrari F8 Tributo has a closed cockpit, useful in the hottest hours. In spring and autumn, an open-top car like the Ferrari Roma Spider or the Porsche 911 (992) 4S Cabriolet is best enjoyed on the roads between the olive groves and vineyards of Jerez.

For a family, an SUV like the Range Rover Sport or Audi Q8 offers plenty of space for luggage. For a group, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class van has room for a group or family with lots of luggage; in city centers, it's best to leave it in a covered parking lot and continue on foot.

Semana Santa, Feria de Abril and summer

Spring is the most beautiful season and also the busiest. During Semana Santa, the brotherhoods carry pasos in procession through the city center, and many streets are closed to traffic. A few weeks after Easter, the Feria de Abril arrives, with its casetas, horses, and carriages in the Los Remedios neighborhood.

During these times, hotels and restaurants fill up many months in advance: book your car early too.

In summer, especially between July and August, Seville is very hot, with temperatures often exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Plan your visits early in the morning and in the evening. In winter, the climate is mild and the art cities are quieter.

Return to another city or to Portugal

You don't need to return your car to Seville. Malaga is about two hours away, and from there you can continue along the Costa del Sol ; Madrid is about five hours away, with a stop in Córdoba along the way. To the west, the Algarve, in Portugal, is about two hours away, and Lisbon is about four and a half hours; the trip can even end in another country.
