Delivery in the center and surrounding areas

In Valencia, your car awaits you wherever you stay: in a hotel, a rental house, or a villa outside the city. The old town, with the Barrio del Carmen and the streets surrounding the cathedral, is made up of narrow, partly pedestrianized streets: if you stay there, you can pick up your car at your hotel and use it for outings.

Low-emission zones exist in several Spanish cities: before confirming, let us know where you plan to travel during your stay.

Valencia Airport and Marina

Valencia Airport is located in Manises, about twenty minutes from the city center. When booking, let us know your flight and arrival time. We'll be waiting for you in the arrivals area or at a location we can arrange together. At the end of your trip, you can leave your car there before boarding.

Those arriving by sea can pick up their car at the Valencia Marina, the tourist port next to the city's beaches, which has hosted two editions of the America's Cup.

The Turia Garden, the Central Market and La Lonja

The Turia Garden occupies the former riverbed, diverted out of the city after the great flood of 1957. Today it is a park approximately nine kilometers long, with lawns, palm trees, cycle paths and ancient stone bridges, crossing Valencia from the west towards the sea.

In the old city, the Central Market is a large modernist building with domes, stained glass windows, and colorful ceramics, where you can buy fruit, fish, cured meats, and spices. Directly opposite is the Lonja de la Seda, the old Gothic-style silk exchange, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a hall whose spiraling columns open like palm branches. For a break, try horchata, a refreshing chufa-based drink served with fartons, long sweets for dipping.

Paella, Albufera and El Palmar

Paella originated in the Valencian countryside, and the traditional recipe combines rice, chicken, rabbit, and beans. The rice grows in the rice paddies around the Albufera, a large freshwater lagoon separated from the sea by dunes and pine forests, protected as a natural park about twenty minutes south of the city.

El Palmar, a small village nestled between canals, has many restaurants specializing in rice. Before lunch, you can take a boat ride on the lagoon; at sunset, the light on the water attracts many visitors, so book a table in advance. The road along the El Saler dunes is flat and quiet, making it convenient for an open-top car.

The Fallas of March

The Fallas, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, enliven the city in mid-March, until the day of Saint Joseph. Large papier-mâché and wooden monuments are built in the squares and burned on the last night, and every day in the early afternoon, the mascletà firecrackers fill the Town Hall Square with noise.

During these days, many downtown streets are closed to traffic, and hotels fill up well in advance. Book early, have a car delivered to your accommodation or just outside the center, and follow the celebrations on foot.

Which car to choose

For a couple who want to drive along the coast, a sporty open-top like the Porsche 911 (992) 4S Cabriolet is suitable for Valencia's mild climate for many months of the year. If you're mainly staying in the city, the Mini GP3 or the Abarth 595 Turismo Cabrio are more practical on the city streets and in underground car parks.

For a family heading to the seaside villas, an SUV like the Audi Q7 or BMW X7 40d offers plenty of space for people and luggage. If you're traveling with a larger group, choose the Mercedes-Benz V-Class van : it has room for a group or a family with lots of luggage.

Day Trips and Costa Blanca

To the north, Sagunto boasts a Roman theater and a long hilltop castle, about a half-hour drive away. Further inland, the wine-producing region of Requena and Utiel is about an hour away.

The Costa Blanca begins to the south. Dénia, with its port and castle, and Jávea, at the foot of Montgó, are about an hour and a quarter away; Altea is about an hour and a half. Alicante is about an hour and three-quarters away and could be the next stop.

The journey doesn't have to end here: you can leave your car in Barcelona , driving up the coast for about three and a half hours, or in Madrid , a similar distance inland.

When to come

In spring and autumn, the days are warm and the streets flow smoothly. In summer, the heat is humid and the beaches get crowded on weekends, while in winter, the sun and mild temperatures allow you to explore the city without the crowds.
