Verona Airport is located in Villafranca, about 20 minutes from the city center. Let us know your flight and arrival time: we'll meet you at the arrivals desk or at the agreed-upon meeting point with the vehicle waiting for you. The southern shore of Lake Garda is about half an hour from the airport, so you can head straight to the lake and come to the city on the following days.
If you're traveling by train, Porta Nuova station is served by high-speed trains: from Milan it takes about an hour and a quarter, and from Venice just over an hour. The historic center has a limited traffic zone: if your hotel is located between the Arena and the Adige River, we'll deliver your car to the entrance, after agreeing with the hotel where we'll park. On city days, leave it in the garage and get around on foot.
In the summer, the Arena hosts the opera season and major concerts. Performances finish late, and the streets around Piazza Bra fill up with people: rather than looking for parking, it's best to walk from the hotel.
Many guests stay on the lake or in Valpolicella and come to the city only for the evening of the opera. In this case, it's best to leave your car in a garage near the center and walk to the Arena, deciding in advance who will drive when you return late at night.
On the left bank of the Adige River, beyond the Ponte Pietra Bridge, the terrace of Castel San Pietro offers a view of the entire city center and the bends of the river. It can be reached on foot, via a flight of steps, or by a small funicular.
Behind you rise the Torricelle, the hills north of the city, traversed by a scenic road past villas, cypress trees, and defensive towers built by the Austrians in the 19th century. It's a short tour, perfect for a late-afternoon drive in a convertible.
Northwest of the city, the Valpolicella hills are about 20 minutes away: in addition to Amarone, many wineries offer tastings of Valpolicella Ripasso and Recioto, the area's sweet wine. Tours are almost always booked in advance. Among the vineyards, you'll also find Venetian villas and Romanesque churches, such as San Giorgio di Valpolicella, a small village overlooking Lake Garda.
To the east, about half an hour away, Soave is a village surrounded by crenellated walls and dominated by a castle, at the heart of the white wine region that bears its name. To the south, a similar distance away, Valeggio sul Mincio is known for its handmade tortellini, and the nearby hamlet of Borghetto preserves ancient mills on the river.
Vicenza, about 45 minutes away, is the city of Andrea Palladio: the Teatro Olimpico and the surrounding Palladian villas are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Mantua, about 45 minutes to the south, is home to the Gonzaga Ducal Palace and Palazzo Te, and is surrounded on three sides by lakes formed by the Mincio River.
Venice can be reached in about an hour and a half by motorway: you can pick up your car in Verona and leave it at Piazzale Roma or Marco Polo Airport, before continuing by boat.
Verona is located at the entrance to the Adige Valley, along the Brenner Autobahn. Trento is about an hour away, Bolzano about an hour and a half, and from there you can reach Val Gardena and Alta Badia . Over the Brenner Pass, Innsbruck is about three hours away.
In Austria, the motorway vignette is purchased before entering the motorway; it is also available in digital format. In winter, all our vehicles are delivered with winter tires.
Every spring, the Verona fairgrounds host Vinitaly, one of the leading international wine fairs, which brings producers and buyers from around the world to the city. During those days, hotels and cars must be booked well in advance, and the same goes for the most popular evenings of the opera season.
For the hills and Lake Garda, the Ferrari F8 Spider or Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder make for a pleasant ride through the vineyards. If your journey continues toward the Dolomites, choose an SUV like the Range Rover Sport, the Mercedes-AMG G63, or the Audi Q8, with room for luggage and gear.
For a group visiting wineries or Vinitaly, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class avoids dividing guests into multiple cars.
Can I pick up the car at Verona Airport? Yes, at Arrivals or at a point we agree on, and we can collect it there before your return flight.
Where should I leave my car if I'm staying near the Arena? In the hotel garage or wherever the property directs you: the city center is a limited traffic zone and can be explored on foot.
How do I get back to my hotel after the Arena opera? If you're staying outside the city, leave your car in a garage near the center and decide in advance who will drive back: performances finish late.
How far is it from Venice? About an hour and a half on the highway; you can even leave your car there at the end of the trip.
Can I continue into Austria? Yes, beyond the Brenner Pass. You must purchase the Austrian vignette before entering the motorway, also available in a digital version.
When should I book further in advance? During Vinitaly, in the spring, and during the summer weeks of the opera season.
What if I change my plans? You can cancel free of charge up to 72 hours before delivery. The booked car, however, will not change: the model is always guaranteed.
